Music Curriculum


Students will prepare for three performances: Our Veteran's Day presentation, the Christmas Concert, and the Spring Concert. Singing techniques and recognition and understanding of musical symbols will be introduced.
Students will play classroom instruments, including recorders, tone chimes and ukuleles, and music reading skills will be introduced.
Students will be introduced to music of other cultures and time periods and will make connections to other disciplines. 

Students will be able to:
- Apply the elements of music and musical techniques in order to sing and play music with accuracy and expression.
- Illustrate blending vocal timbres, matching dynamic levels, and responding to the gestures of a conductor while singing in groups.
- Use instruments to perform rhythmic patterns.
- Interpret rhythm patterns, including whole, half, quarter, and eighth notes and rests in 2/4, 3/4, and 4/4 time signatures.
- Recognize pitches on the treble staff.
- Understand symbols and terms for dynamics and tempo.
-Create music using a variety of sound sources.
-Recognize music of different time periods and cultures.
